Artist Profile
A well known artist and teacher of art, Lovedy has exhibited in London at the Society of Women Artists (S.W.A.) annual exhibition at Westminster Hall. She also exhibits locally with the Christchurch Arts Guild and Highcliffe Art Fellowship and her work is familiar to many local people. She has been awarded several prestigious prizes – the Mercy Oddy Memorial Water colour prize, the Dick Crow Marine Trophy of mixed media seascape and on two occasions the Presidents Choice Award, again for mixed media work. As a keen and prize winning amateur gardener and floral display artist it is not surprising that the subject of flowers feature in her water colours and pastels; the reflection of trees in water is another theme which regularly occurs in her paintings of the New Forest as are the atmospheric skies, sunsets and dawns along our local coastline. In her more recent work, Mixed Media Seascapes have featured success fully as have Reflections in water with Ink. Lovedy’s Summer Workshops and her Art classes at All Saint’s Church Mudeford for Amateur Painters have raised several thousand pounds for local charities.
